Just because a building has a sign out front that says church, it doesn't necessarily mean that the people on the inside have embraced the kingdom of God message that Jesus came to deliver to the world. It doesn't necessarily mean that the people inside understand what it means to model the tone, posture, and approach of Jesus. The church is not just a gathering of people who believe similar things; it’s a gathering of Jesus followers who believe doing is what makes the difference.

But has this movement known as the church been reduced to just another event? Something that takes place on Sundays for church people? Who’s the church really for? Do we actually need the church in our world?

We take values like human dignity, compassion, and justice for granted today, but they only feel obvious because the church first introduced them.

People aren’t avoiding church because they don’t have needs but because they’re unsure church is a safe place to be honest about them.

In a world full of opinions and advice, where do we go when our questions are personal, painful, and unresolved?

We often assume purpose requires perfection, but Jesus points to a kind of completeness that comes through growth, not flawlessness.
